Four Seats, Four MLAs, One Alliance

Bihar BJP seat switch, Bihar political realignment

In the 2020 Bihar Assembly elections, the BJP lost four key seats — Ramgarh, Mohania, Bhabua, and Chainpur. The RJD won three, and the BSP secured one. However, within a few years, all four MLAs joined the NDA, marking a dramatic Bihar BJP seat switch.

Chainpur MLA Mohammad Jama Khan of BSP joined the JDU soon after his win and became the Minority Welfare Minister. Later, in 2023, BJP reclaimed Ramgarh in a by-election after RJD’s Sudhakar Singh moved to Parliament.

In 2024, RJD MLAs Sangeeta Kumari (Mohania) and Bharat Bind (Bhabua) joined BJP, finalizing the Bihar BJP seat switch. The RJD accepted their resignations just before elections.

As political tides changed, discussions about the upcoming assembly elections filled tea shops and city corners. Parties are yet to declare their candidates, but both NDA and AIK camps are actively assessing their strengths through social media, data analysis, and public outreach.

Bihar’s politics once again proves that loyalty often bends before opportunity, and alliances keep evolving as elections near.
