Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to review the progress of two major irrigation projects — Polavaram in Andhra Pradesh and Devadula in Telangana on October 29 under the PRAGATI (Pro-Active Governance and Timely Implementation) program. The meeting will focus on key issues such as backwater submergence, land acquisition, and rehabilitation concerns raised by the affected states.
According to official data, the Polavaram project in Andhra Pradesh has achieved around 60% completion, while 92% of works on the Devadula project in Telangana have been completed. The Prime Minister is expected to discuss the current status of both projects, assess pending works, and issue necessary directives to accelerate completion.
This review underscores the Centre’s intent to fast-track irrigation infrastructure in the Telugu states for improved water management and agricultural development.
