Sanjeev Kumar Lal, the Expenditure Observer, instructed officials to record every rupee spent by candidates in the Jubilee Hills Assembly constituency by-election. He emphasized that all campaign-related expenditures must appear accurately in each candidate’s expenditure register. This step aims to ensure transparency and accountability throughout the electoral process.
On Wednesday, he conducted a surprise inspection at the GHMC Head Office, reviewing key election monitoring facilities. These included the Media Certification and Monitoring Committee (MCMC), Electronic Media Monitoring Room, Model Code of Conduct (MCC) Control Room, 1950 Complaint Centre, and Social Media Monitoring Cell. He praised officials for their effective operations while suggesting minor improvements for quicker reporting.
Additionally, he instructed teams to closely monitor rallies, public meetings, roadshows, advertisements, and paid news. All activities should be video-recorded, and related expenditures entered daily into official registers. During the inspection, MCC Nodal Officer Narasimha Reddy, MCMC Member Secretary Mamindla Dasharatham, and Control Room OSD Anuradha briefed him. Chief Examiner of Accounts P Venkateshwar Reddy accompanied the Observer and provided guidance.
Later, he held a review meeting with the District Election Officer at GHMC Head Office. Police Observer Om Prakash Tripathi inspected polling stations, DRC Centres, and security arrangements at Kotla Vijaya Bhaskar Reddy Stadium. Meanwhile, officials reported that 211 candidates filed 321 nominations, with withdrawals allowed until October 24.
