Former CIA officer John Kiriakou has revealed that Osama bin Laden escaped from Tora Bora disguised as a woman after the 9/11 attacks. In an interview with ANI, Kiriakou said the CIA had cornered Bin Laden and Al-Qaeda in Afghanistan’s Tora Bora mountains in 2001.
He explained that an Al-Qaeda spy had infiltrated the US military as a translator. This spy misled the American commander by claiming that the terrorists wanted to evacuate women and children before surrendering. During the night, Bin Laden put on women’s clothes and fled to Pakistan in a pickup truck.
Kiriakou added that the next morning, the mountains were empty, and the US had to move the fight into Pakistan. Later, American forces killed Bin Laden in Abbottabad in 2011.
He also said the US had a close relationship with Pakistan’s then-President Pervez Musharraf, claiming Washington “bought his support” with millions in aid. According to Kiriakou, Pakistan’s military focused on India, not Al-Qaeda, while the US ignored Indian concerns to maintain cooperation with Islamabad.
