Louvre Museum Jewelry Heist Turns Into Surprise Win for German Lift Maker

Louvre Museum jewelry heist

A bold daylight robbery at the Louvre Museum in Paris has unexpectedly brought fame to a German company. Thieves used a Böcker-made freight lift to break into the museum and steal priceless Napoleonic jewels in just four minutes.

Alexander Böcker, the company’s managing director, said he was shocked to see photos of his lift in the news. “Once the shock faded, we found some dark humor in it,” he told the Associated Press.

The gang drove the lift to the museum, climbed up the facade, and forced open a window. They smashed display cases, grabbed the jewels, and escaped on motorbikes through central Paris.

By the next morning, Böcker Maschinenwerke GmbH turned the event into a marketing moment. The company shared a post featuring the same lift with the slogan: “When something needs to be done quickly.”

The post highlighted the lift’s speed of 42 meters per minute and its ability to carry up to 400 kilograms. The campaign went viral, giving the company global attention.

Böcker joked, “Our lift can carry crown jewels, yes — but not thieves.
