The Sugar Complex in Bihar plan has received approval from the state cabinet. The decision aims to revive the sugar industry and support sugarcane farmers. The government will set up 25 new sugar mills across the state.
The Sugar Complex in Bihar model will follow successful systems used in Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, and Karnataka. A team of experts from Bihar will visit these states. They will study their sugar industry and prepare a plan for Bihar.
The government will also restart nine closed sugar mills. Officials expect this step to create jobs and increase farmers’ income. It will also strengthen the state’s rural economy.
Chief Secretary Pratyay Amrit will lead a high-level committee for the project. District officials have started identifying land for the new mills.
The government hopes the plan will boost sugar production and give farmers a stable market for sugarcane.
