The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) has filed a complaint against Tarn Taran SSP Ravjot Kaur Grewal. The party says she is misusing police power to target its workers before the Assembly bypoll.
SAD legal head Arshdeep Singh Kler said the police are acting under AAP’s pressure. He claimed that false FIRs are being filed to block SAD’s campaign. Notices under Sections 126 and 169 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita are served to stop canvassing.
Kler said two DSPs, Jagjeet Singh and Sukhbir Singh, were posted in Tarn Taran before the election code started. The party had raised objections, but officials ignored them. He said Dodhe village sarpanch Varinder Singh and Manpreet Singh, aide of SAD candidate Sukhwinder Kaur Randhawa, were booked without reason.
Kler also alleged that a worker named Prabhjit Singh was taken away by CIA staff and could not be found. He said free and fair polls are not possible under such control. SAD asked the Election Commission to transfer the SSP and both DSPs immediately.
