The Bihar Assembly Election Results 2025 are set to reveal the outcome of one of the most intense political battles the state has seen in recent years. This year’s polls made history with a record-breaking voter turnout of 66.91%, the highest in Bihar since elections began in 1951. Women voters played a crucial role, registering an unprecedented 71.6% turnout, far ahead of the 62.8% turnout among men.
The Election Commission deployed a massive workforce to ensure smooth polling across the state. Nearly 8.5 lakh election officials and 1.4 lakh polling agents managed booths for 2,616 candidates. Additionally, the Election Commission appointed 243 general observers, 38 police observers, and 67 expenditure observers to monitor the process. For the first time, 16 international delegates from six countries visited Bihar as observers.
As the results unfold today, the key fight is between the ruling JD(U)-led NDA and the Opposition RJD-led Mahagathbandhan. Prashant Kishor’s Jan Suraaj Party claims it has emerged as a viable alternative, though most exit polls suggest limited impact. These exit polls overwhelmingly predict a comfortable win for the NDA. Tejashwi Yadav, however, has dismissed these surveys, accusing poll agencies of acting under BJP influence to manipulate the narrative and put pressure on Election Commission officials.
The election campaign was marked by sharp personal attacks and allegations. Both alliances traded accusations over governance failures, rising crimes, corruption, Chhath-related controversies, and what each side labelled as “jungle raj.” Several high-profile murders in the months leading up to the election intensified the political slugfest.
Today’s results will determine whether Nitish Kumar, known for his shifting political alliances, secures a 10th term as Chief Minister, or whether voters choose Tejashwi Yadav to lead a new chapter in Bihar politics.
