Why More Votes Meant Fewer Seats

The RJD vote share in Bihar 2025 created a surprising result in the state elections. The party received the highest number of votes, yet it won only 25 seats. Many voters supported RJD, and the RJD vote share in Bihar 2025 stayed close to its previous performance. Still, the seat count dropped sharply.

RJD contested 143 seats, the highest among all parties. Contesting more seats helped it collect more votes, but many candidates lost. These losing votes also added to the total vote share but did not turn into victories.

BJP and JDU contested fewer seats. They focused on selected seats and converted their votes into wins. This strategy helped NDA cross 200 seats.

LJP (Ram Vilas) and RLM stayed with the NDA this time. Their support helped NDA avoid vote splits, which had earlier damaged it in 2020.

In direct contests, JDU defeated RJD in most seats. BJP also performed strongly and won 89 seats. New players like Jan Suraj affected vote margins in many areas. AIMIM kept its hold in Seemanchal.

RJD still has strong support, but its votes did not convert into seats. It remained popular but failed to reach the finishing line in many constituencies.
