For the first time in two decades, the Nitish Kumar Home Department change has created major political discussion in Bihar. In the new cabinet formed for the tenth time, Nitish Kumar decided to hand over the Home Department to Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary. This marks a historic shift, as the Nitish Kumar Home Department portfolio always stayed with him earlier.
Samrat Chaudhary now leads the Home Department, while Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha has received Land Revenue, Mining, and Geology. The move is being viewed as a political balancing step inside the NDA government.
Several BJP ministers received key roles. Mangal Pandey now heads Health and Law. Dilip Jaiswal has been given the Industries Department. Nitin Naveen will handle Road Construction and Urban Development, and Ramkripal Yadav is the new Agriculture Minister.
From the JDU side, Vijay Chaudhary will manage Water Resources and Building Construction. Shravan Kumar takes Rural Development. Bijendra Yadav now handles Finance, Commerce, and Energy, while Sunil Kumar continues with Education. Other ministers received departments such as Food Consumer Affairs, Rural Works, Social Welfare, Disaster Management, Sports, IT, and Minority Welfare.
Overall, the new cabinet shows a clear effort to distribute strong portfolios across both NDA partners.
