Amritsar immersed in faith on Friday as a grand Nagar Kirtan began its journey to Anandpur Sahib. The procession honours the 350th martyrdom anniversary of Guru Tegh Bahadur, Bhai Mati Das, Bhai Sati Das and Bhai Dayala. Amritsar immersed in faith as thousands of devotees gathered to take part.
A police contingent offered a guard of honour to the Guru Granth Sahib. The holy scripture was placed in a beautifully decorated palanquin. The Nagar Kirtan started from the Bhuri Wale dera after prayers. It moved ahead with support from the Punjab Government, Baba Kashmir Singh Bhuri Wale, gurdwara committees and the sangat.
Cabinet Minister Harbhajan Singh ETO joined the event. Many saints, officials and Nihang Singhs also walked with the procession. The minister said the Nagar Kirtan will halt at several places, including Tarn Taran. He added that the state is hosting many events under Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann’s leadership.
Moreover, large gatherings will take place at Anandpur Sahib from November 23 to 25. Saints, chief ministers and other leaders will attend. A special Vidhan Sabha session will also take place on November 24.
Deputy Commissioner Dalwinderjit Singh said these events share Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji’s message of courage, unity and freedom.
