According to West Singhbhum SP Amit Renu, the blast killed 18-year-old Phoolon Dhanwar instantly. Two other women, Salami Kundalna and Barsi Dhanwar, suffered injuries but received timely treatment at the Manoharpur hospital. Doctors reported their condition as stable, and officials may shift them to another hospital if needed.
Police believe Maoists planted the device to target security personnel in the area. SP Renu said the blast reflects the rebels’ desperation as forces continue tough anti-Maoist operations inside Saranda. The forest remains under intense surveillance, and teams are scanning nearby routes to prevent further harm.
DSP Jaydeep Lakra added that the victim’s body will be taken for post-mortem to Chaibasa Sadar Hospital. Authorities have increased patrolling across nearby villages to ensure safety and to reassure residents after the shock of this attack.
