Kuldeep Kumar, joined by his daughter Tanya, said he wanted to help his “brother” rebuild his life. His gesture went viral online and drew praise for promoting harmony in Jammu.
Former BJP chief Ravinder Raina visited the area and accused the administration of unfair action. He promised support to residents and questioned why notices were not issued. Congress and PDP leaders also condemned the demolition and asked for accountability.
Residents said they had lived in Transport Nagar for four decades and felt targeted without due process. Meanwhile, the JDA stated that the operation is part of a wider plan to remove encroachments from more than 16,000 kanals of its land across Jammu.
