Bihar Vidhan Sabha Highlights captured an important start to the new Assembly session on Monday. The five-day winter session began with the oath-taking of 235 newly elected MLAs. Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary took oath first, followed by Vijay Sinha and other ministers.
The Assembly Secretary called MLAs in order of priority. Before this, the Pro-tem Speaker addressed the House. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar was also present during the proceedings.
A major update in the Bihar Vidhan Sabha Highlights was the nomination of senior BJP leader Prem Kumar for the post of Speaker. He is the NDA candidate and represents the Gaya Sadar seat for the ninth time. The election for the new Speaker will take place on December 2.
The House will meet five times during this session. The opposition plans to corner the government, while the ruling side is prepared with its responses. This is the first meeting of the 18th Assembly after the elections and the formation of the new government.
In another update, Bihar Legislative Council Chairman Awadhesh Narayan Singh held a meeting with leaders of all parties and appealed for smooth and peaceful proceedings during the winter session.
