Vijay Krishna exit from RJD has created fresh debate in Bihar politics. The 74-year-old leader wrote to Lalu Yadav and announced his decision to leave the party. Vijay Krishna exit from RJD marks the end of a long political journey with Lalu.

Vijay Krishna started his career in the sixties through Samajwadi Yuva Sabha. In 1977, he became Bihar General Secretary of the Janata Party. He won the Barh Assembly seat in 1990 and again in 1995 on a Janata Dal ticket. Later, he served as a minister in Rabri Devi’s government.

In 2004, Lalu Yadav gave him the Barh Lok Sabha ticket. Vijay Krishna defeated Nitish Kumar and gained state-wide attention. When Nitish won against him in 1999, Vijay challenged the result, but the court dismissed the case.

He joined JDU briefly during the 2009 elections but returned to RJD in 2010.

His career faced a major setback in 2009 when he and his son were named in a murder case. In 2013, a court gave him a life sentence. After almost ten years in jail, the High Court released him in 2022.
