Under the Government at Your Doorstep campaign, Bihar minister Leshi Singh visited Dhamdaha in Purnia district to hear public complaints. During the Government at Your Doorstep meeting, people openly raised serious issues against local officials.
Several residents accused a Circle Officer (CO) of asking for money to complete official work. Immediately, Leshi Singh took a firm stand. She publicly scolded the officer and reminded him that government staff receive salaries to serve people, not to demand bribes.
Moreover, the minister warned that she would inform the District Magistrate and seek suspension if such behaviour continued. When the officer denied the charges, she pointed out that five different people had made similar complaints. Therefore, she asked him to correct his conduct and stop damaging the government’s image.
Meanwhile, the program saw a huge public turnout. About 815 applications from different panchayats of Dhamdaha block were submitted. In many cases, the minister gave clear instructions on the spot, and officials resolved some issues immediately.
Most complaints came from the Revenue and Land Reforms Department. After that, the Electricity and Fertilizer departments recorded high numbers. Counters from major departments helped speed up grievance redressal.
