Vyapam scam convicts get a major setback as a CBI court in Indore delivered a strict verdict on Tuesday. The court sentenced 10 accused to five years of rigorous imprisonment in the Patwari Recruitment Examination 2008 fraud case. Each convict must also pay a fine of ₹3,000.

The judgment was pronounced on December 16, 2025, after a prolonged legal process. The convicted individuals include Rameshwar, Rakesh, Devendra, Chetan, Balram, Harpal, Gopal, Jitendra, Dinesh, and Digvijay Singh Solanki.

The case relates to the Patwari recruitment exam conducted by Vyapam in 2008. Investigators found that the accused used forged certificates and fake documents to falsely claim eligibility. They secured selection through fraudulent means and compromised the integrity of the recruitment process.

An FIR was first registered on October 26, 2012, at Kotwali police station in Khargone district. Local police filed the chargesheet in May 2014. Later, the Supreme Court transferred the investigation to the Central Bureau of Investigation.

CBI officials conducted a detailed probe and presented strong evidence before the court. After extensive hearings, the court ruled that the accused deliberately cheated the system. The verdict reinforces accountability in government recruitment and sends a strong message against exam-related corruption.
