RJD MP Sanjay Yadav stirred the Rajya Sabha with his bold remark, Get Your Bill Insured First, during the insurance law debate. The phrase Get Your Bill Insured First quickly caught attention as he challenged the Modi government’s confidence in its own proposal.
Speaking firmly, Yadav said the Centre should trust its bill before asking citizens to trust it. He questioned the government’s push for major insurance reforms without clear protection for ordinary people.
The MP opposed the proposal to allow 100 percent foreign direct investment in the insurance sector. According to him, full foreign control could harm poor families and farmers who rely on insurance during difficult times.
Yadav stressed that insurance works as a safety shield, not just a business. He asked whether big foreign companies would support small policyholders during medical or crop emergencies.
Raising another concern, he demanded simple claim procedures and faster settlements. He also urged the government to send the bill to a parliamentary standing committee for detailed review.
Despite opposition protests, the House passed the bill by voice vote. The debate highlighted rising worries over how insurance reforms may affect India’s vulnerable sections.
