Revanth Reddy and Azharuddin to Lead Congress Campaign in Maharashtra Civic Polls
The Congress party has named Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and former cricketer and MP Mohammed Azharuddin among its star campaigners for the upcoming Maharashtra civic body elections. The party leadership hopes their presence will energise cadres and strengthen the Congress’s outreach to voters across urban and semi-urban regions.
Party sources said Revanth Reddy’s organisational skills and governance experience would help convey the Congress’s development agenda, while Azharuddin’s popularity and connect with youth and minority communities are expected to boost the campaign. Several senior leaders from Maharashtra and neighbouring States have also been included in the list of star campaigners.
The Congress is aiming to improve its performance in municipal corporations, municipal councils, and other local bodies by highlighting issues such as civic infrastructure, rising prices, unemployment, and local governance. Leaders said the campaign would focus on people-centric issues and accountability at the grassroots level. The party is expected to roll out a coordinated campaign strategy in the coming days.
