Chandigarh District Court Bomb threat caused panic on Friday after authorities received an alarming email warning. The message claimed that the court complex would be attacked using a drone-mounted explosive device.
Police immediately suspended all court proceedings and evacuated the entire District Court Complex in Sector 43. Authorities sealed both main gates and restricted public entry. Police teams cordoned off the area from all sides and imposed strict security checks.
Senior police officials rushed to the spot along with local police units and the bomb disposal squad. Security agencies launched a detailed search operation inside the court premises. Officials deployed heavy police force in and around the complex to maintain law and order.
Sources said the threat email reached the official email ID of the District Court. The court administration promptly informed the Chandigarh Police. Officers escalated the matter to the SSP’s office without delay.
Teams from Sector 36 police station and senior DSP-level officers supervised the security operation. Police officials stated that they would confirm the situation only after the bomb squad completed its inspection.
This incident is not the first of its kind this year. The District Court has received similar bomb threats three times in 2024. In May, bomb threats also forced evacuations at the Punjab and Haryana High Court and the Haryana Civil Secretariat.
