Two trucks loaded with smuggled goods disappeared from Motipur police station in Muzaffarpur, creating panic among officials and raising serious questions about police security. The incident came to light on January 2 when officers found the vehicles missing from the station premises.
GST officials had seized three trucks on December 31 during a routine check. The trucks were carrying goods without valid documents and were allegedly heading toward Uttar Pradesh. After the seizure, GST officials handed the vehicles over to Motipur police for safe custody.
Late at night, amid dense fog, two of the trucks reportedly left the police station area. The drivers and helpers are suspected to have escaped with the vehicles. Only one truck remained at the station when police checked in the morning.
Police have registered an FIR and started an investigation into how the trucks disappeared. Officers are questioning the truck owners, drivers, and police personnel on duty that night. Senior officials have also ordered an internal review.
The incident has highlighted serious lapses in security, as seized vehicles are often kept in open areas due to limited space at the police station.
