Bihar Panchayat Elections 2026 Ward Maps to Remain Unchanged

Bihar Panchayat Elections 2026 ward maps to remain unchanged before polls

The Bihar Panchayat Elections 2026 ward maps will remain unchanged, the state government has confirmed. Panchayati Raj Minister Deepak Prakash said the upcoming rural elections will be held on the same ward boundaries used in the previous polls.

The minister explained that the government cannot carry out delimitation without updated population data. The national census was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and fresh figures are still unavailable. Because of this, the state has decided not to redraw ward boundaries before the elections.

This decision means voters will cast their votes in the same wards as before. Local representatives and election officials can now begin preparations without confusion over new boundaries.

However, the reservation system will see changes. The government will update the reservation roster before the elections. Seats reserved for women, Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, and backward classes may change under the new rotation system.

The minister also clarified that only areas affected by municipal expansion could see minor administrative adjustments. No large-scale changes to rural wards are planned.

Officials aim to complete the Bihar Panchayat Elections 2026 ward maps–based polling process within the scheduled time frame, ensuring smooth and timely elections across the state.
