A father gunned down when returning from court in his son murder case was shot dead in Bihar’s Jamui district on Monday evening. The victim, 53-year-old Ashok Yadav, was riding his motorcycle home after giving testimony in his son’s murder trial at Jamui court.
The attack took place on the Jamui–Sikandra road near Padmavat. According to police, the attackers were already waiting along the roadside. As Ashok approached, they opened fire and hit him multiple times. He died on the spot before help could arrive.
Ashok’s son, Vikas Kumar, was murdered three years ago. Since then, Ashok had been actively pursuing the case in court. Locals believe the killing may be linked to a long-standing land dispute between Ashok and another family in his village.
After the incident, villagers informed the police, who rushed to the scene and began an investigation. Officers questioned witnesses and started collecting evidence from the area.
Police officials said they are examining all possible angles, including personal rivalry and past enmity. No arrests have been made so far, but authorities say they are confident of cracking the case soon.
