The government has linked the programme with employment generation. Women associated with the Jeevika livelihood mission will stitch the uniforms. This step will offer steady work to thousands of women and local tailors.
Officials said the scheme will reduce the financial burden on poor families. Free uniforms can help improve attendance and participation among young children in early education.
The state may later extend the programme to government primary schools for students from Class 1 to Class 5. This expansion would benefit even more children.
