Himachal: IMD issues moderate rain, snowfall alert for several districts as the state braces for changing weather. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Tuesday warned of light to moderate rain and snowfall over the next six hours, with isolated heavy spells possible in some areas.

Kinnaur, Lahaul-Spiti, and higher reaches of Chamba, Kangra, and Kullu are expected to receive light to moderate rainfall and snowfall. In certain places, especially Kinnaur and Lahaul-Spiti, heavy rain or snowfall may occur. Meteorologists advise residents and tourists to exercise caution while traveling.

Earlier, IMD predicted that January 27 would see intensified precipitation across most parts of Himachal Pradesh. Dry weather is likely on January 29, with intermittent light rain or snow returning between January 30 and February 1.

Cold wave conditions will hit isolated low hills and plains from January 28 onwards. Dense fog is also expected in Bilaspur, Una, Mandi, and Paonta Sahib districts in the coming days. Additionally, thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds of 40-50 kmph, reaching up to 60 kmph, could affect Shimla, Kangra, Mandi, and Solan.

Heavy snowfall and rain on Monday forced the closure of over 1,250 roads, disrupting daily life across the hill state. Public Works Department Minister Vikramaditya Singh confirmed that the government is working on a war footing to reopen roads. Snow blowers and JCB machines are actively deployed across Himachal Pradesh.
