The victim, Santosh Verma, lived in the Turha Toli area. According to family members, some men from the neighborhood often teased and troubled his daughter. Santosh had warned them several times and even raised the matter earlier.
On Tuesday evening, Santosh stepped out to buy vegetables. The accused reportedly stopped him near the market area and attacked him with sticks after an argument. He suffered serious head injuries.
Family members rushed him to the district hospital, but doctors declared him dead.
Police registered an FIR against the accused. Officers arrested two suspects and started further investigation. The incident has created tension in the area.
