Patna High Court will soon get 9 new judges after the Supreme Court Collegium cleared their names for appointment. The decision means Patna High Court will soon get 9 new judges to strengthen its bench and reduce the growing backlog of cases.
The Collegium approved nine advocates for elevation as judges of the Patna High Court. The recommended names include Md Nadim Seraj, Ranjan Kumar Jha, Kumar Manish, Sanjeev Kumar, Girijish Kumar, Alok Kumar, Raj Kumar, Rana Vikram Singh and Vikash Kumar.
The recommendations now go to the Union Ministry of Law and Justice. After review, the file will move to the President of India for final approval.
At present, the High Court works with fewer judges than its sanctioned strength. Chief Justice S. K. Sahoo is also set to retire this year. The new appointments aim to speed up hearings and improve case disposal.
