Shivraj Chouhan to visit Punjab for flood damage assessment amid floods

Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan will visit Punjab to personally assess the destruction caused by floods. Heavy rains have damaged farmlands across Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Jammu & Kashmir, putting farmers in deep trouble.

On Monday, Chouhan held a high-level meeting with senior officials to review the agricultural situation. After the meeting, he announced his Punjab visit, saying he would meet farmers directly. “I assure my farmer friends in Punjab not to worry. I will visit flood-hit areas, listen to your concerns, and ensure relief,” he said.

The minister stressed that the Union Government stands firmly with farmers and will provide timely support. His visit aims to restore confidence among communities that depend on agriculture.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Home Affairs has sent a central inter-ministerial team to Punjab. The team started spot inspections on Monday and will prepare a detailed report for further assistance.

The combined efforts of the Agriculture Ministry and the Home Ministry highlight the Centre’s commitment to support Punjab quickly, reduce farmer losses, and speed up relief operations.
