Uttarakhand Floods: PM Modi, Shah Assure Full Support

PM Modi, Shah Assure Uttarakhand

Heavy rains lashed Uttarakhand on Monday night, triggering severe floods in Dehradun’s Sahastradhara and Raipur areas. Roads were damaged, houses were affected, and dozens of residents were left stranded. The State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) stepped in immediately, rescuing over 100 people, including students from Devbhoomi Institute. Unfortunately, two people remain missing as search operations continue.

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami personally inspected the worst-hit areas on Tuesday. He reassured citizens that the government is providing all possible assistance and coordinating relief efforts. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah also spoke to CM Dhami, promising full support and resources to help those affected by the floods.

Meanwhile, Himachal Pradesh faced similar devastation due to overnight heavy rainfall. Landslides and floods hit Mandi district, where a house collapsed in Boi panchayat, killing three family members. A bus stand was submerged, leaving residents and travelers stranded. Rescue teams and local authorities are actively assisting affected communities, restoring roads, and ensuring safety.

In other regions, Hyderabad is likely to experience light to moderate rainfall on Tuesday, September 16, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD). The city will see cloudy skies, intermittent thundershowers, and gusty winds, with misty conditions in the morning and night hours.

Authorities in both Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh continue to monitor flood-prone areas closely. Citizens are urged to follow official guidelines, stay indoors when possible, and cooperate with rescue operations. Relief and safety remain the government’s top priorities as heavy rains persist in the region.
