Traffic Rules Enforcement in Bihar Gets Tough with ANPR Cameras

Traffic rules enforcement using ANPR cameras in Bihar

Traffic rules enforcement is set to become stricter in Bihar as the government plans to install modern cameras in 27 districts. These advanced systems will help ensure that no one can escape penalties for breaking traffic rules.

Traffic rules enforcement will improve with the use of Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) cameras. These cameras can read vehicle number plates and generate e-challans automatically. Officials said surveys are underway to identify key locations in district headquarters.

The Bihar Police has already installed CCTV cameras and traffic signals in major cities, including Patna. Work is also ongoing in nine divisional headquarters. The remaining 27 districts will soon be covered under the new system.

Officials believe this move will reduce traffic violations, improve road safety, and help manage congestion in busy areas. The project is expected to be completed in the next financial year.
