The JDU Legislative Party Meeting on 20 April will play an important role in choosing the party’s new leader in the Bihar Assembly. The meeting comes after Nitish Kumar stepped down as Chief Minister and moved to the Rajya Sabha.
The Janata Dal (United) has called this meeting to decide who will replace Nitish Kumar as the legislative party leader. Since he earlier held the post, the party must select a new leader during the JDU Legislative Party Meeting on 20 April.
According to party sources, Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Choudhary is one of the strongest contenders for the position. Senior leader Bijendra Prasad Yadav, who recently became Deputy Chief Minister, is also a senior figure in the party but may not get the role.
Nitish Kumar resigned as Chief Minister after winning a Rajya Sabha seat in March. After his resignation, the NDA formed a new government in Bihar under Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary.
