Senior Rashtriya Janata Dal leader Shivanand Tiwari has strongly criticized the Women Reservation Bill, claiming it is a political strategy by the Bharatiya Janata Party to remain in power.
Tiwari said the Women Reservation Bill is being used to influence voters rather than genuinely empower women. According to him, the government linked the proposal with delimitation and other political calculations. He alleged that this approach could benefit the ruling party in future elections.
The bill aims to reserve 33% of seats in the Lok Sabha and state assemblies for women. However, its implementation has become a major political debate between the government and opposition parties.
Tiwari argued that the government should focus on immediate steps to increase women’s participation in politics instead of delaying implementation through additional conditions. He also questioned the government’s intentions behind bringing the bill in its current form.
The debate over the Women Reservation Bill continues to spark strong reactions from leaders across different political parties.
