The Gandak River drowning tragedy shocked residents in Bihar’s Vaishali district after three minors, including a teenage girl, drowned during festival-related bathing on Sunday. The Gandak River drowning tragedy happened at two different river ghats and left families and locals in deep grief.
Two boys drowned while bathing in the Gandak River near Tangoul Ghat in Hajipur around 10 am. Local residents quickly alerted police and rescue teams after the incident. Personnel from the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) later recovered the bodies from the river.
The victims were identified as Ravi Kumar (12) and Ansh Kumar, also known as Bhola (11). Both boys had left home earlier that morning before the accident occurred near the riverbank. Their families rushed to the spot after receiving the news.
In a separate incident in Bidupur, a 14-year-old girl drowned in the Ganga River while bathing with her mother. Rescue teams searched the river, but the operation stopped after sunset and will continue again.
