The Gopalganj court stays arrest of MLA Pappu Pandey, giving temporary relief to the Bihar legislator and his chartered accountant Rahul Tiwari. The MP-MLA special court issued the order while hearing their anticipatory bail petitions.
Kuchaikote MLA Amrendra Kumar Pandey, popularly known as Pappu Pandey, and CA Rahul Tiwari were facing arrest in a land dispute case. The Gopalganj court stays arrest of MLA Pappu Pandey until the next hearing, granting both accused temporary protection from police action.
Special Judge Rajendra Kumar Pandey passed the order after the prosecution asked for more time to review the case diary submitted in court. The judge accepted the request and postponed further proceedings.
Earlier, authorities had issued warrants against the MLA and others over allegations that they supported land mafias and tried to occupy land using forged documents.
The court has fixed May 7 as the next date of hearing, when the case will come up again.
