Fake ED Director Arrested in Bihar after he allegedly posed as a senior Enforcement Directorate official and called the Bhojpur District Magistrate. Police and STF teams arrested the accused from Patna after tracing the suspicious call. The Fake ED Director Arrested case has raised serious concerns about impersonation targeting senior government officials.
Police identified the accused as Abhishek Agarwal alias Abhishek Bhopalka. He allegedly called Bhojpur DM Tanay Sultania on WhatsApp and introduced himself as the director of the Enforcement Directorate posted in Delhi. During the call, he tried to pressure the DM to take certain administrative action.
The DM became suspicious because of the caller’s tone and quickly informed the police. After technical surveillance, a joint team of STF and local police arrested the accused from the Buddha Colony area in Patna. Officers also recovered ₹2.61 lakh in cash and the mobile phone used in the crime.
Police said the accused has a history of impersonation and fraud. In 2022, he allegedly posed as the Chief Justice of the Patna High Court and called the then Bihar DGP to influence a case. Investigators are now checking if he targeted other officials as well.
