Feel the Jail begins in Chanchalguda with a unique initiative launched at the historic Chanchalguda Central Jail in Hyderabad. The Telangana Prisons Department started the program to help people understand what life inside a prison feels like. Telangana Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan inaugurated the initiative along with prison officials. Senior officers from the prisons department also attended the launch event.
Under the Feel the Jail begins in Chanchalguda program, citizens can spend a day inside the prison by paying a fixed fee. Participants wear prisoner uniforms, stay in barracks, follow jail rules, and eat the same food served to inmates. This allows visitors to experience the strict routine and discipline followed in prison.
Officials say the project mainly targets young people. It aims to show how committing a crime can affect a person’s life and freedom. Authorities believe the experience will help create awareness and discourage people from engaging in illegal activities.
Along with the program, officials also opened a new jail museum on the prison campus. The museum displays historical items from the Nizam era, including chains, records, weapons, and other artefacts related to the prison system.
