Transgender Welfare Board: AP Government Announces New Members for Welfare

Transgender Welfare Board members appointed by Andhra Pradesh government

The Transgender Welfare Board received a major boost as the Andhra Pradesh government announced the appointment of new members to strengthen welfare programs for the transgender community. The decision aims to improve the implementation of schemes and ensure better support for transgender people across the state.

Officials said the Transgender Welfare Board will act as a bridge between the community and the government. It will help identify issues faced by transgender individuals and suggest solutions through policy and welfare programs.

The government also nominated district collectors from Visakhapatnam and Tirupati as regional representatives. They will monitor welfare initiatives in North Andhra and Rayalaseema regions and ensure that benefits reach the community at the grassroots level.

Three transgender representatives—Prem Sagar Ray, Jeevan Kumari, and Durga—have been appointed as members of the board. Their term will continue for two years or until further orders are issued.

Authorities said the board will focus on education, employment opportunities, healthcare access, and social security for transgender people.
