Deputy Chief Minister and Forest Minister Pawan Kalyan was scheduled to visit Bapatla today to mark National Forest Martyrs’ Day. However, his tour was canceled at the last minute due to adverse weather conditions. The Meteorological Department issued warnings of thunderstorms and heavy rain in the district, making it unsafe for travel.
Reports suggest that unfavorable weather also disrupted helicopter arrangements, forcing the Deputy CM to call off the program. During the visit, Pawan Kalyan was expected to inaugurate a memorial at the Nagaravanam Forest Park in Suryalanka, honoring the sacrifices of forest martyrs.
He had also planned to plant rare palm-leaf manuscript saplings, specially brought from Rajahmundry, along the Suryalanka coastal belt as part of the green initiative. Despite the cancellation, officials indicated that the program would be rescheduled, ensuring that the martyrs’ day tributes and environmental efforts are duly carried forward.
