The Telangana population is likely to cross 4 crore as the state census survey enters its final stage. Officials have already surveyed nearly one crore households across the state. Current estimates put the population at about 3.86 crore.
The Telangana population may increase further after officials complete the remaining household surveys. Census teams still need to visit nearly 20 lakh households before the survey ends on June 9.
Rapid urban growth has boosted population numbers, especially in Hyderabad and nearby districts. Many new residential areas have emerged in recent years.
Officials said people in rural areas cooperated well with the survey. In cities, teams faced some challenges. Locked houses and summer travel slowed data collection in a few locations.
Hyderabad recorded more households than expected. The final census data will help the government understand population trends and migration patterns. It will also support better planning for welfare programs and infrastructure projects.
