A deep depression has formed over the Bay of Bengal. The Meteorological Department warned of heavy rainfall in northern Andhra Pradesh and moderate showers in the southern coastal areas. Strong winds between 40 and 60 kmph will lash the coast, so officials have issued alerts.
Fishermen should avoid venturing into the sea. The department warned that rough seas and high tides may create danger along the coastline. Coastal residents have been urged to stay cautious.
Visakhapatnam, Anakapalli, Kakinada, Parvathipuram, Manyam, Eluru, and Vizianagaram will likely see light to moderate rainfall today. Officials expect the system’s impact to intensify, bringing more rain in the coming hours.
On Tuesday, several districts already received heavy rain. In Visakhapatnam’s Gajuwaka region, flooding submerged localities and blocked roads. Traffic stopped on the highway from Old Gajuwaka signaling center to the bus stop. Authorities are monitoring the situation and advising people in low-lying areas to remain alert.
