NDA Holds Strong in Amnour Assembly Seat

NDA victory in Amnour Assembly Seat

The Amnour Assembly seat in Bihar has seen three elections since its formation in 2008, and the NDA has won all three. Despite frequent political shifts, the NDA continues to enjoy voter trust here. This seat is strongly influenced by BJP MP Rajiv Pratap Rudy from Chhapra. Currently, Krishna Kumar Mantoo, who serves as the IT Minister in Nitish Kumar’s government, represents Amnour.

Geographically, Amnour is surrounded by the Gandak, Mahi, and Dobra rivers, making its land fertile. Politically, however, it remains a tough battleground. Over the years, margins of victory have narrowed, showing rising competition. Yet, the NDA has managed to retain its hold.

In 2010, Mantoo, contesting as a JD(U) candidate, defeated RJD’s Sunil Kumar Rai by over 10,000 votes. After the JD(U)-BJP alliance split, BJP’s Shatrughan Tiwari (Chokar Baba) defeated Mantoo in 2015 by 5,368 votes. The fight became even tougher in 2020, when BJP gave the ticket again to Tiwari while JD(U) fielded Mantoo. Mantoo, this time, defeated Sunil Kumar Rai of RJD by the same margin of 5,368 votes, while Chokar Baba finished third.

Amnour remains crucial for the NDA since it is both the constituency of a state minister and the political base of Rudy.
