Star Health Faces AHPI Warning on Cashless Services

Star Health Insurance, one of India’s leading health insurers, is under pressure after accusations of irregular practices. The Association of Healthcare Providers India (AHPI) warned it may block the company’s cashless services unless an agreement is reached soon.

AHPI, which represents over 15,000 hospitals, gave Star Health until September 22 to resolve the dispute. The association stated it would suspend cashless facilities for policyholders if talks fail. Care Health and Bajaj Allianz had faced similar disputes earlier but solved them after direct discussions with AHPI.

Star Health responded quickly, rejecting the concerns. The insurer said it had not received complaints about blocked cashless services in its partner hospitals. It accused AHPI of using warnings as pressure tactics instead of presenting genuine issues.

The company assured customers that even if cashless services stop, claims will be settled directly. Star Health promised patients would get payments before clearing hospital bills. The standoff has worried policyholders, but negotiations between AHPI and Star Health could ease the uncertainty in the coming weeks.
