Punjab Haryana Should Act as Elder Brothers, Says Himachal CM Sukhu, stressing that both states must show sensitivity toward Himachal’s needs. Speaking at a public event, he urged the neighboring states to extend fair support for water sharing, power projects, and regional cooperation.
CM Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu explained that Himachal contributes significantly to hydropower generation, yet the state struggles to secure its rightful share of benefits. He added that Punjab Haryana Should Act as Elder Brothers and treat Himachal’s demands with respect, just as elder siblings care for the younger ones in a family.
Sukhu highlighted that Himachal has always maintained cordial relations with its neighbors, but the state cannot compromise on its people’s rights. He called for balanced policies that safeguard Himachal’s long-term interests while ensuring regional growth.
The Chief Minister also emphasized cooperation instead of conflict. According to him, unity among northern states will not only strengthen Himachal but also benefit Punjab and Haryana. Analysts believe his statement signals a stronger push from Himachal for equitable resource-sharing agreements.
