Aadhaar Biometric Update Made Mandatory for Children at 5 and 15

The government has issued a directive requiring all schoolchildren who reach the ages of 5 and 15 to undergo a Mandatory Biometric Update (MBU) of their Aadhaar. This process includes capturing or updating their photograph, fingerprints, and iris scans to ensure accurate identification.
When children were initially enrolled before the age of five, only demographic details were recorded because their biometrics were still developing. Updating this information at key age milestones is essential to avoid identity-related issues in the future, particularly for school admissions, scholarships, examinations, and welfare benefits.
Authorities have urged parents, guardians, and schools to ensure timely completion of the biometric update. The process is currently free for children within the specified age brackets, encouraging widespread compliance. The initiative aims to strengthen identity authentication and streamline service delivery for millions of students across the country.
