Adequate measures sought to check diarrhoea in Vijayawada after more than 40 residents of New Rajarajeswaripeta fell ill in just two days. Health workers rushed to the locality as the sudden outbreak created panic among families.
Members of the Praja Arogya Vedika (PAV) from NTR district raised concern, pointing out that this is the second diarrhoea outbreak in the city within 16 months. They urged officials to act quickly and prevent further spread.
Doctors and sanitation teams have begun door-to-door visits, distributing medicines and chlorine tablets to affected households. Drinking water samples are being tested to identify the contamination source. Local residents also complained about poor drainage and irregular water supply, demanding long-term solutions.
PAV leaders said that repeated diarrhoea cases expose gaps in basic civic services. They asked the Vijayawada Municipal Corporation to strengthen water quality monitoring, improve sanitation, and launch awareness drives on hygiene.
Authorities assured that necessary steps will be taken to restore public confidence. With timely action, health activists believe the situation can be brought under control before it worsens.
