Bakhtiyarpur-Tajpur Bridge Completion Set for May 2026

Bakhtiyarpur-Tajpur Bridge under construction over the Ganga River

The Bakhtiyarpur-Tajpur Bridge project has reached its final stage, bringing relief to commuters across Bihar. Officials have confirmed that the bridge will be completed by May 2026. Once ready, the Bakhtiyarpur-Tajpur Bridge will significantly improve road connectivity between North and South Bihar.

The bridge is being built over the Ganga River and will link Bakhtiyarpur in Patna district with Tajpur in Samastipur. This new route will shorten travel time and reduce traffic pressure on the busy Gandhi Setu.

The project includes a four-lane bridge along with long approach roads. The total length of the corridor is around 51 kilometers, while the bridge itself is about 5.5 kilometers long. More than 90 percent of the construction work is already complete.

Senior officials recently inspected the site and instructed engineers to maintain speed and quality. The bridge will help traders, daily commuters, and emergency services by providing a faster and safer route.

After several delays in the past, the new deadline has raised hopes that Bihar will soon get a modern and reliable river crossing.
