Amazon founder Jeff Bezos says artificial intelligence (AI) is a real technology that will bring huge benefits to society, even though the AI industry is in a bubble. Speaking at Italian Tech Week 2025 in Turin, he called it a “once-in-a-generation technological shift” that could change every industry.
Bezos explained that this is an industrial bubble, not a financial one like the 2008 banking crisis. “Banking bubbles hurt society, but industrial bubbles can be good,” he said. “When the dust settles, the winners will create inventions that benefit everyone.”
While Bezos is optimistic, others warn AI could cause massive job losses. Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei predicts AI may replace 50% of entry-level white-collar jobs within five years. He urged governments to recognize the risk, saying many people are unaware of the looming impact.
Mo Gawdat, former Google executive, added that AI could affect everyone, including CEOs, software developers, and podcasters, as early as 2027. Despite the fears, Bezos remains confident that the long-term benefits of AI will outweigh the temporary challenges.
