Former Muzaffarpur MP Ajay Nishad has rejoined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) after losing the 2024 Lok Sabha elections from Muzaffarpur on a Congress ticket. He had earlier left the BJP when denied a ticket but is now returning to his old party before the Bihar Assembly elections.
A two-time MP from Muzaffarpur (2014, 2019), Nishad had faced defeat by 2.34 lakh votes to BJP’s Rajbhushan Chaudhary Nishad, who later became a Minister of State in the Modi cabinet. Nishad will rejoin the BJP at the Patna BJP office in the presence of Dilip Jaiswal, and his wife Rama Nishad will also join the party.
Coming from a strong political background, Ajay’s father, Jai Narayan Prasad Nishad, served as MP and Union Minister. There is speculation that the BJP may field either Ajay or his wife in the upcoming state polls. His return strengthens the BJP’s strategy in Muzaffarpur ahead of 2025.
