Ajmer Dargah Chadar Ban plea may get a crucial court decision today, triggering wide attention in Rajasthan. A petition seeks to stop the Prime Minister from offering a ceremonial chadar at the Ajmer Sharif Dargah.

Hindu Sena national president Vishnu Gupta filed the petition in a local court. The case has stirred political, religious, and administrative circles. The timing matters as the Urs flag will be hoisted today, marking the formal start of the annual Urs.

Gupta claims that a Sankat Mochan Mahadev temple exists within the Dargah premises. He has demanded an Archaeological Survey of India investigation. He has also sought worship rights for Hindus at the site. Gupta raised these claims publicly in September 2024.

The court first adjourned the petition on September 26 due to jurisdiction issues. A day later, the Ajmer civil court admitted the plea for hearing. Proceedings have continued since then.

The petition specifically opposes chadar offerings by constitutional authorities. These include the Prime Minister, Chief Minister, District Magistrate, and Superintendent of Police. Gupta argues that the Minority Affairs Ministry presents the chadar on behalf of the Prime Minister. He claims official publicity violates his legal rights.

The court reserved its order on December 10 after issuing notices earlier. Today’s verdict could influence the Urs proceedings.
