Leaders from all major parties will meet Governor Jishnu Dev Varma today to seek approval for the Panchayati Raj (Amendment) Bill, 2018. The bill, recently passed in the Assembly, focuses on revising reservation limits and strengthening local governance. It now requires the Governor’s sanction to become law.
Minister Ponnam Prabhakar, who invited leaders through formal letters, stressed that all parties had reached consensus on the bill. He argued that with such unanimous support, there should be no hesitation in granting approval.
